B2O | Between Land & Sea
The Climate Change Institute, an institutional building situated on a pier, has been designed to effectively address the impact of rising sea levels, a phenomenon expected to persist for the next century. By leveraging the water to optimize user experience and ensuring unfaltering accessibility, this edifice sets a high standard for sustainable architectural design. Site design, the foremost stage of the project, was crucial in enabling access to the pier, which had been disconnected from Philadelphia. The design process has prioritized the user, both the occupants and tourists who will visit the facility. The subsequent phase aims to develop a building that seamlessly harmonizes with the site while taking intoaccount the challenges posed by rising sea levels.
